Edinburgh Oval lighting, Curtin University, Perth
Project details: Replacing lighting for three rugby fields (two dual-use rugby/soccer) in Perth, with 100 lux + for competition-level lighting.
South Oval lighting, Curtin University, Perth
Project details: Lighting of the AFL oval and one soccer pitch to 100 lux +, achieving competition-level outputs, with the provision for 200 lux at a later stage.
Foyer lighting upgrade, Challenge Stadium, Perth
Project details: We replaced inefficient 450mm Opal MV spheres with 22x150W LED highbays.
Queensland Government Sleeman Sports Centre
Project details: In conjunction with Sylvania Lighting, we came up with an innovative solution to replace all out-dated fittings in the Chandler Theatre. The twin lamp up/down metal halide fittings were replaced with custom-made twin 35W T5 fittings, illuminating the huge space up and down as before, but with complete dimmer functionality, giving infinite control.
The project was challenging because the entire installation had to be performed by tradesmen suspended by climbing gear within the spaceframe supporting the roof. Moreover, the height from floor to ceiling varied from about 3 metres at the rear of the theatre, to in excess of 12 metres over the stage, all requiring even illumination.
State Hockey Centre, Queensland
Project details: Here, we provided 35 Sylvania Briteline 2000W metal halide floodlights for the grass-field training area at the State Hockey Centre in Colmslie.
Anytime Fitness Willetton, Perth WA
Project details: Anytime Fitness Willetton had issues with low output due to their older mercury vapor highbay lights reaching the end of their life. LRA provided the client with two solutions; one that utilised LED technology and a second involving a unique CERA Arc HID retrofit option.
The LED option would require around 1.5 times the number fittings and would need a complete refit out, while the CERA Arc ceramic metal halide retrofit units offer almost twice the output of the existing mercury vapor lamps. With a minor height adjustment, the client could cut down on the total number of fittings whilst simultaneously improving the light output.
This significantly lowered the capital outlay when compared with an LED refit, and only required minor modifications to existing fittings and heights.
